What zwischen does

One ticket.
Infinite destinations.

Most people use their Deutschland-Ticket for the daily commute and nothing else. zwischen turns it into a travel pass — showing you the radial tree of every place reachable by RE, RB, and S-Bahn from where you are right now.

So weit how far can you go?
Enter your station. See a live map tree of every direct connection, plus one and two changes further. Bavaria on a Monday morning.
Zu zweit find a meeting point
Two cities. Two DE tickets. zwischen finds every station you can both reach and ranks them by how close your arrivals are. No more WhatsApp screenshots.
Tagesausflug Soon

The real problem

You already pay
for all of this.

The DE ticket covers every RE, RB, and S-Bahn in Germany. That's Nuremberg to Munich. Erlangen to Frankfurt. Hamburg to Lübeck. Berlin to the Havel lakes. Cologne to the Moselle valley. Most people never realise how far it stretches — because nobody showed them a map. zwischen does.

Weekend trip
"Show me lakes within 2 hours of Stuttgart"
Long-distance friends
"Where can Berlin and Munich both reach on the same day?"
Spontaneous explorer
"I have 6 hours. How far can I go and back?"
How it works

Four steps.
One screen.

1
Enter your station

Type any German station. zwischen connects to Deutsche Bahn live timetables to find today's actual departures.

2
Choose your range

Direct trains only, or expand one and two connections further. The map tree grows as your ambition does.

3
Pick somewhere new

Swipe through destinations, see the stops, explore on TripAdvisor, or save it for later. Then go.

4
Meet in the middle

Add a second city for Zu zweit mode. zwischen ranks meeting points by how close your arrivals are. No coordination required.

The value question

Are you getting your
money's worth?

At €63/month, most DE ticket holders use it for 20–25 commute journeys. That's around €2.50 per trip. zwischen helps you find the trips that make it feel like €0.50 — day trips, detours, spontaneous Saturday mornings.

Common questions

Everything you
need to know.

What is the Deutschland-Ticket?

The Deutschland-Ticket (DE-Ticket) is a €63/month subscription that gives unlimited travel on all regional trains (RE, RB) and local transport (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, bus, tram) across Germany. Around 14 million people subscribe to it. zwischen helps you discover everywhere it takes you.

What trains does zwischen work with?

zwischen shows connections on RE (Regionalexpress), RB (Regionalbahn), and S-Bahn — exactly the trains covered by the Deutschland-Ticket. ICE and IC trains are excluded because they require a separate ticket.

How does the meeting point finder work?

Enter two starting stations — for example Berlin Hbf and Munich Hbf. zwischen checks live DB timetables, finds every station reachable by both people on the same day, and ranks them by how close the arrival times are. No more checking the DB Navigator app back and forth.

Is zwischen free to use?

Yes, completely free. No account, no signup, no paywall. zwischen uses the Deutsche Bahn open timetables API to show live departures. If it helps you plan a trip, there's a voluntary buy me a chai button — that's it.

Which cities and regions does it cover?

All of Germany — Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, NRW, Brandenburg, Sachsen, Thüringen, Niedersachsen, and more. Major hubs like Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Leipzig, Dresden, Hanover and their surrounding regions are all included. Wherever the DE-Ticket is valid, zwischen can map it.

What's coming next?

Tagesausflug mode is coming — curated day trips like lakes, castles, and hiking trails ranked by travel time from your station. Entlang mode will show interesting stops along a journey you're already making. Both are in development and free when they launch.
